Hi everyone. Thanks for visiting my website. It makes me so happy that you
enjoy my books. You see, the reason I write them in the first place, is
simply to make you smile. But sometimes, you may actually learn something
from my stories. So sit back, relax, and let my stories take you away
to where your imagination can run free. If you would like to send me a letter, here is my mailing address: Emily ChetkowskiAlthough it is more important to me that you get to know and care about my storybook characters, sometimes people want to know a bit about me. Since all of my stories come from real life and the lives of others close to me, maybe it is important to share my own life story with you. So here goes. I live in North Central Massachusetts, on a small farm with beautiful views of the sunrise over the Boston skyline. It is called Stone Gait. In the summer, I live on an island off the coast of Maine. This is where I write most of my stories. Life is very quiet and slow there, in fact I hardly ever wear a watch when I am on the island. I get very inspired to write there. I became interested in writing for enjoyment when I was in 8th grade at Birchland Park School, in my hometown of East Longmeadow, MA. Mr. O'Hearn, my English teacher thought I had talent and encouraged me to consider writing as a career one day. Well, I didn't do what he said but went to Music School, then Nursing school after I graduated. Eventually I got married and had 2 children. But all through that time, I remembered my teacher's words of encouragement, and continued to use writing as a creative outlet. I loved to write poems and short stories. I even enjoyed just writing letters to my friends. When my children were born, I started writing and sharing little stories with them. Then one day, our dog Mabel took her famous unauthorized trip on the Islesboro Island Ferry, ending up at a Lobster restaurant on the mainland. That event is what inspired me to become a published author. I thought, this is such a funny story; I should share it with children everywhere. And I did. You can read all about Mabel's true adventures in my books "Mabel Takes the Ferry" and "Mabel Takes a Sail." And look for more Mabel stories in the future...
