Sherburne is once again participating in a school wide reading incentive program
in an effort to encourage children to read just for the fun of it. We kicked off
this 5 month long celebration of reading
with a visit from published author Emily Chetkowski and her dog Mabel on Friday,
Jan. 4. Ms. Chetkowski talked to the children about her writing process
and how she usually writes what she knows and cares about - namely her dog,
Mabel. The children enjoyed hearing of Mabel's and her sister, Maxine's
antics and even got a chance to pat the famous canine star. Ms. Chetkowski
also read her book Pumpkin Smile for the kids and although it is a story
about the author's daughter, Mabel did make a cameo appearance in the
book. It was a truly enjoyable visit. Hats Off to Emily Chetkowski
and Mabel!
